Description:

This is part 2 of a 4-part seminar series. This session focuses on the empath’s body, which is landing. Although, attendance to all 4 parts of this series is not required, it is recommended. This seminar is based on the latest research in interpersonal neurobiology and over 25 years in clinical practice, walking the growing edge of understanding the phenomenon that is the empath. This seminar is facilitated by Shannon O'Neill, MA.

Over the last couple of years, there has been a groundswell of written information about Empaths. Much like their polar opposite-the narcissist-Empaths have been anecdotally defined often in a manner that is misrepresentative, including conflation with the “Highly Sensitive Person”. A personality that is highly responsive and responsible to both self and other is a feature that can distinguish the Empath from a hypersensitive introvert. In fact, the “Highly Sensitive Person” can be a prodromal state of the Character Disorder of Covert Narcissism.

Therefore, it is imperative to accurately explain the characteristics and etiology of the Empath, differentiating it from the spectrum of Covert Narcissism. In contrast to the intractable nature of the narcissistic character structure, the mind, body, heart, and soul of the Empath are held in a nested configuration that ensures the future of holistic growth and healing.

This seminar defines the Empath as an Archetypal and Psychobiological adaption to the personal and political forces that employ win/lose, divide & conquer, and power-over strategies. This seminar series will explore the Empath’s exceptional capacity to apply Holarchical presence to counteract Hierarchical structures.  We will explore the Self-transformative and Ego-tempering process of Exposure/Existence/Expression/Empowerment, and employ healing practices to help the Empath shift from being “Everywhere and Nowhere” to “Embodied and Noetic”.
