What is Psyche’s Journey?
Psyche’s Journey is a private practice incorporating Archetypal Somatic Psychodynamics and Astrology. This unique approach at the interface of Science and Spirituality, affords healing of the whole person. This modality weds cutting edge neuroscience with ancient psychology practices. By bringing body & soul and modernity & antiquity together, homeostasis is achieved.
Psyche means Soul, and the Soul of every person is encoded with an image of desire. The ultimate symbolic aim of this desire is a divine/human marriage. This inner union creates the wholeness that restores one to their nature: Authentic Beauty and True Love. Returned to one’s natural state healing can occur. Healing is natural. “Love bears all things.”
With over 25 years in the field, Shannon O’Neill is experienced in guiding and assisting individuals towards integration and individuation. She is highly trained in body-centered and interpersonal/intrapersonal neuroscience for trauma treatment, and has practiced astrology for 28 years. She was educated in Archetypal Psychology tradition of Carl Jung. This tradition explores and employs the image-rich landscape of Psyche. This imaginal world is the well-spring of all wisdom traditions, religions, myths, and spiritual disciplines. Everything we need is there. And with proper stewardship of the nervous system to transmit and receive this vital wisdom, everything we need is here.
What is somatic psychology?
Somatic psychology is an approach to therapy that blends depth psychology and body-centered/experiential therapy techniques. This approach recognizes that the very symptoms or difficulties in one’s life have purpose, and that the transformation of these maladaptive defenses comes through acknowledging their sophistication and meaning by employing their instinctual wisdom.
The underlying and overarching premise of Somatic Psychology is that psyche and soma must be reintegrated for the health and integrity of the individual and the human species as a whole. In my opinion, disorders such as trauma, addiction, depression, chronic health issues and even our current geo-political discord all stem from our species’ tragic divorce from nature itself.
Somatic Psychology facilitates the repair of this split, allowing for body and soul, matter and psyche, creature and cosmos to re-integrate. EVERY BODY’s healing depends on the radical act of individual commitment to embody wholeness–and the whole is always greater than the sum of its parts.
“Now this is the Law of the Jungle — as old and as true as the sky; And the Wolf that shall keep it may prosper, but the Wolf that shall break it must die. As the creeper that girdles the tree-trunk the Law runneth forward and back — For the strength of the Pack is the Wolf, and the strength of the Wolf is the Pack.”
Rudyard Kipling
